Great local restaurant. Prices were fair and the food was awesome. The staff was very friendly and helpful... If you live in the area this is a great place within walking distance. We missed happy hour but 6-8pm daily (I believe). $6 selected menu. Hope to grab drinks after work. I recommend :)! Enjoy!

Semilla is a wonderful little sport in middle of sobe insanity, very nicely decorated. Food is great and really creative! I definitely recommend the fried shrimps and the steak.

Small portions but great food. The ambiance was really nice.... Only bad part of our night was that our waiter was pretty worthless. He asked us several times for our order, then charged us for something he was not supposed to and we asked him for a birthday cake and he forgot. He looked pretty high!

Came for happy hour. Drinks were decent, food is decent. Tapas style where you pay $6 for fish and chips (a larger portion) and $6 for 4! Pot stickers. The whole thing is $6 for happy hour and it's a decent deal but prices should vary for the amount of snacks your gonna shell out for. Restaurant is nice but parking looks like a bitch.

Bartender (Egor) is great! Good mix drinks, and will also treat you very well. Must ask for him..

I've been to semilla a few times and I just can't stay away!!!! The food, the atmosphere, and the service are amazing. I would recommend it to anyone for a drink, during happy hour, or for dinner. Food favorites are the salmon tartar, croquetas, and branzino. The drink and wine list are very varied and fun! Everyone should go to this place at least once.

They have great service, not a long wait, and the food was exquisite, its a bit pricey but if you want a good variety of wine and good food this is the place to go

Half of the restaurant was divided for a private party. A DJ had been hired and the music was so loud that it made it unbearable to not only sit in the restaurant but to enjoy the meal. The food, however, was mediocre and once the main course arrived I had such a headache and an upset in my stomach from the music that I left with my daughter not to return ever again. The staff was very apologetic and did try to turn the music down, but the DJ just kept turning it back up again.

Semilla has wonderful food, but a bad dining experience can ruin the hard work of a talented chef. This gastropub has an open kitchen surrounded by a bar and bench seating along the walls that is a bit awkward to sit at since you perch above closely-packed tables. It is also LOUD so don't expect intimate conversation. If I go back I will sit outside or at the bar. The menu is small but has enough variety to keep most happy. The small plates of grilled meats, salads and various other appetizers all looked great. I like that they had lighter fare to balance out the savory dishes. My date and I tried several dishes and all were excellent. Based on what my date and I tasted I highly doubt anything on the menu isn't amazing. The burratta salad is a must. It is a big bowl of cherry tomatoes topped with fresh burratta cheese and a light oil and lemon dressing. Fresh and perfect. The BBQ octopus was actually an octopus salad over lettuce and shaved pickled fennel. So good. The scallops were equally wonderfull as were the goat cheese croquettas and brusslesprouts. Even the bread at the table was good. The food here is amazing. Based on Yelpers' recommendations I tried the "ice cream sliders". I am not one to save room for desert but I am so glad I did! I can't say enough about how wonderful that first bite of heaven was. I really want to try every other desert on the menu! As good as the food is, the dining experience was not. Service is incredibly slow and the restaurant was way too loud to have a conversation. They also play a sneaky trick by charging for "filtered" water. The attitude the waiter gave my date when he called him on it was embarrassing. When you are spending 150 on dinner do you really need to cop an attitude about hidden charges? Really? This isn't Europe. Get over yourselves. We probably should have just left but the food looked so good I stayed. But the server wasn't attentive, sent us the bill before we were able to order desert, and then blamed it in the busser. Unprofessional. I am afraid Semilla will fall into the trap most south beach restaurants fall into. Good food will only get you so far. Poor service is no way to attract locals. I am hoping my experience was just a fluke. I want to make this a regular spot since it is around the corner and the food is so good, but can't until service issues are straightened out and I actually feel welcome.

Food was great, but the portions are generally smaller than what you would think! Still I am a fan.

I love this restaurant. Definitely not your typical Miami restaurant but the food is better than most of them! I love the bar in the middle of the restaurant and to be able to see the kitchen from our table. We had a bunch of different dishes that were all delicious! I definitely recommend the fried shrimps and the steak! Go there you won't regret it!

Arrived at 9:15 on Friday night to find almost every table full. Good sign. They are a little slow moving with the service but to be expected with a new place. If you like beets, try the beetnik cocktail, an interesting spin on liquored up juice. A must is the buffalo chicken potstickers- the blue cheese dip makes the dish. Scallops were great, over a little mash, Burrata was good, salmon avocado app excellent. 4 small plates and 3 cocktails = $120 bill. Not the cheapest place on the block, also not the most expensive. Would def recommend giving this spot a try.

Solid food and atmosphere. Attentive service. Try the bacon goat cheese croquettes. Arrive before 8 for the happy hour.

Food was really good. I was not a fan of the mac and cheese it was more like a fettuccine Alfredo. The location is kind of a mess too because of all of the ridiculous construction in south beach. Don't be discouraged by the ridiculous road construction and give the place a try

Nice local place. Good happy hour selection. Regular dinner menu is nice but limited. Great ambiance. Kitchen is out in open and you can watch your food being prepared.

This place has a lot of potential! The location is good, the decor is nice, it was sunday night and almost all tables were full. The menu is interesting and has different options. We ordered the ORGANIC KALE AND FRESH HEART OF PALM SALAD, SALMON AND AVOCADO TARTAR, and BUFFALO ROASTED CHICKEN POT STICKERS. The kale salad was good, but it was definitely a SIDE SALAD. I felt that the plate was not worth the money. Also it had too much dressing.... The pot stickers were tasty, could have been more crunchy, and the filling was a bit dry. The blue cheese dipping was very tasty. The Salmon and avocado tartar was the winner. It was delicious! the seasoning was right, the temperature was perfect, and the crunchy onion on top was the perfect garnish. About the decor, the only thing that bothered us was the green light on the walls. No need for those, keep it classy with some warmer tones.

I thought the restaurant itself is well decorated and original, love the open kitchen, and nice waitress. The food however.... Nothing bad really, but for $70 per person I expected much better. The buratta is not great quality, served with cherry tomatoes you get at Publix, the rillette was so dry, my $48 steak was way too cooked (I ordered medium rare), oh and for $48 there is no sides... Ok then let me get a $7 Mac and cheese..... Little hint, the "Mac" in "Mac and cheese" means Macaroni, why the hell would you make tagliatelle?!?! So yeah... Just disappointed.... I wouldn't go again except maybe for a happy hour and nibbles it looks fun.

Very nice ambiance, both inside and outdoors. Great place for a delicious dinner with an absolutely beautiful atmosphere. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating. If you go there after dark, there are really nice dim lights outside and also torches, which make for a relaxing, cool vibe. The food is absolutely incredible. I highly recommend the salmon and avocado tartar. Although I did not sit at the bar, it also seems like a great place to enjoy a drink with friends. Oh, and the staff is extremely friendly, which is a huge plus!

Wow! Loved this place! Try the beatnik martini. One of the best cocktails I've ever tasted and I've tasted my fair share. Oysters. Check. Salmon and avocado tartare. Check. Burrata & tomatoes, Brussel sprouts, scallops, check, check, check. And finished with mini ice cream sliders that was the cutest thing I ever saw as well yummy. This place will be a repeat! Oh and the service was excellent!

Finally a nice neighborhood restaurant with great food without breaking the bank. No pretentiousness, only great service and great food. I loved the wood decor and the open kitchen. It's a very chill and relaxed atmosphere. But most importantly the food is awesome! Great variety of options and you can tell they only use high quality ingredients. Loved the braised short rib pot stickers. The Salmon tartar and lobster mango salad are both fresh and light. Whatever you do, you must try the ice cream sliders! It looks like an actual slider but it's not. I could eat a whole dozen. Of course we had try out the drinks too and again did not disappoint. I love the cucumber drink and the bonne lemonade. Semilla is a breath of fresh air and my new local spot!

Alright so this was the final dinner spot for my wife and I during our little anniversary get away. So we chose this place for our anniversary dinner and what a great experience. Now warning this place is pretty pricey, but the food is amazing. My wife and I got there right at the end of happy hour, which allowed us try a few extra appetizers. I highly recommend their goat cheese and bacon croquettes, they are amazing. We also tried their short rib dumplings which were so delicious. Now another warning their appetizers are small so do not expect to eat big portions. Their drinks are very unique, and the beer selection is decent. For the main course I had the red snapper, which was some of the best I have ever had, and if you all have read my previous reviews, I am a bit of a fish snob. lol My wife had the skirt steak, which was very tender and flavorful. They make you pay extra for the sides, which I recommend the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. Their desserts were so unique and creative, I had the tiny ice cream sandwich which was a combo of ice cream and a macaroon that looked just like a cheese burger. So basically Semilla is a great place for a special occasion to really give your taste buds a ride. I highly recommend this place and even though its expensive it is well worth the price, and that is a lot for me to say especially since the place is on the beach. Enjoy!

Came here for Miami Spice and food was great. Got the veal chop which comes with a truffle fettuccine Alfredo... Can't wait to have leftovers. Overall, the food is really creative,. Also our waiter, Efrian was amazing. When we could only get a high top table, he bought us a drink on the house to make up for it. Come here for the wonderful service!

Saturday night on Miami Beach on Alton Road with $9.00 valet parking a must. Seating at small tables 1 1/2 inch apart is like communal tables. No sound proofing for noise so don't expect to have vocal conversation without yelling, like Meat Market on Lincoln. No "vibe" Food very good, but kitchen does not have it together, since wait times are very long in between courses. Ambience is lacking, and not cool. Will not be back.

Others have said it, I must reiterate! The salmon tartar, the croquet and the branzino are amazing. The service was impeccable and we even ran into two friends there. I was impressed with how many people came in and yet the service didn't loose quality.

Love this place. Just opened up around the corner from where I live and have been twice. Always sit at bar with Jackie for happy hour. The food and service is great! Nice ambiance and music. Will definitely be back soon!

Highly recommended. Fantastic food, great atmosphere & top notch service. Owner is there and it definitely shows. A truly authentic dining and an overall relaxing experience. Will not hesitate to return. Don't let the construction on Alton turn you away, well worth it. Be sure to have the salmon and avocado tartar.

Two stars - bread is awesome, but service was horrible. Overall food is average, if not overpriced for the quality.nothing was "amazing". Waiter was rude and super slow - we had to wait a long time to order, a long time to get drinks, a long time to pay the bill.

This is officially my first yelp review. I joined because my experience at this restaurant was so awful. I had a coupon for this restaurant, and showed the coupon when I arrived and was told that I could use it. I was then asked if I would like to sit inside or outside, I sat outside. I was given two menus, a happy hour menu and a regular menu and told that happy hour was from 6-10, nothing more. When the bill came I presented the coupon again. The server took the coupon and then returned and told me that the owner said I could not use the coupon because I had purchased some items off of the happy hour menu ($12 off the happy hour menu out of $70 bill). When I expressed my confusion because I had been told the coupon would be honored before the meal, I was informed that not only would the restaurant refuse to use the coupon for the non-happy hour portion of the bill, but that if I had chosen to sit inside, I would have been able to use the coupon because the happy hour was not inside. These are all ll things I probably should have been told when I first presented the coupon and chose where to sit. The best part however, is that I asked to speak to the owner twice. I watched the server talk to the owner and explain that a table wanted to speak to him. He apparently refused because he never appeared. I asked the server again to speak to the owner and the server made it clear that the owner was not going to come talk to me. I have never been treated so poorly by a restaurant before. This was egregious customer service and I do not encourage anyone to support this business.

Semilla offers an interesting menu, buzzing ambience, top quality food and even superior service. Pray that Paul is your server when you visit this establishment, he is a fantastically entertaining Aussie with a phenomenally professional level of service! Albeit only a side, try the garlic cream spinach!

My friend recommended this place. Very cute, away from the Touristic restaurants. The staff is very friendly, and the cuisine is very good, and prices are fair. I ordered the salmon tartar- very fresh and tasty! The homemade mashed potatoes is delicious! Great for a romantic dinner or a relaxing time with friends. I will definitely come back!!!

I've been driving by for some time now and I always see they're busy so the day after the event at BTW, my fiancé and I decided to give them a try 1) because it was within walking distance and 2) because I told him that it was always packed "it must be good!". So we entered and were welcomed by a staff member, she told us we could grab a seat wherever we wanted, so we did, We saw they offered a great happy hour but they waitress told us it was only for the bar and the outside sitting, ugh! We didn't wanna switch seats so we stayed at our table and she offered the drinks at happy hour prices :) The drinks were refreshing, I had the Luistito, it's taste honestly like a Mojito, my fiancé had the Kamikaze as a drink. Since we weren't that hungry we opted for the Croquetas that everybody on Yelp talk about and the ceviche. The croquetas were good, they were made with Goat cheese and Serrano ham I believe, but the Ceviche was not good at all. I won't have this dish again. Somehow the fish left an aftertaste and also the texture was off, maybe it was the kind of fish? I don't know. So I might give this place another try based on their happy hour deals and stick to simpler foods.

I must say a nice, eclectic gem on Alton!!!! My husband and I went for a friend's birthday and we weren't sure what to expect. I can tell you that once you walk in the ambiance is beautiful. The greenery on walls and amazing decor, you will feel like you are somewhere else. Even though I'm not a huge bacon fan My recommendation is that you must try the goat cheese and bacon croquette...OMG!!!! Melts in your mouth! Have the hamachi ceviche is delish and the short rib potstickers A MUST!!!! Semilla is a small, cool and eclectic spot you must go and see!!! The great music and drinks bring it to another level. Another plus is that the food is organic! This hidden gem is a cool hotspot and features amazing infused tapas that make you want more!!!! Enjoy and let me know what you think!!!!

Exploring up Alton Road last night & decided to stop at Semilla. Called my eldest bambino & invited him over and while awaiting his arrival sat at the bar & met Melissa our very pleasant bartender/host for the evening. She recommended some starters and I was off to a good start with a glass of Argentenian Canernet on the way. The croquettes, oysters & beef on a stick apps were delish. Tesoro arrived and we then tried the shrimp potstickers which were just ok. A group of FSU college friends arrived so we sadly parted ways with Melissa & joined the group at table for our Rack of Lamb special with a side of country potatoes topped with bacon, cheese & sour cream... Aye MaMa... Yes we both sucked on the bones til there was nothing left. A cozy atmosphere, an attentive staff & a french owner/chef we're grateful has survived his first yesr amidst the crazy Alton Rd construction project. Loved it and Loved the caption on the wall that read, "Everything begins with a seed" I'll definately be back & bring my friends!

Cozy environment with original design and open kitchen where you can watch how your food is prepared! Special cocktails made by mixologist Nico are unusual but delicious, DRUNKEN BANANA made from banana soaked jameson, coconut milk, crem, lemon juice, Diplomatico and Pavan on the top was real experience :) Long happy hour with DJ every Tuesday and Friday, 6$ for drinks and appetizers - simply great deal! I highly recommend this place

Came here for dinner one night. It seems that this place gets more business for their happy hour then for their actual dinner. The interior is beautiful. We start off with the shrimp dumplings and beef dumplings. They were ok. Nothing to write home about. Then We had the tuna ceviche and hamachi ceviche. The hamachi was definitely more like your typical ceviche. Was decent. Lastly we had the octopus and the scallops. Octopus was fair and the scallops lacked flavor. Think this place is just ok. On a positive note the service was quite good.

Good food. Good Service. Nice room and lighting. Only complaint is regarding portion size. Now, I get that it's tapas, but to me tapas means small plates, not tiny plates. Same with drinks - tiny pours. Three stars - "A-OK" is fitting.

Very simple yet scrumptious food. I had the Sea bass and it was the best I had in a very long time. Along with a nice bottle of Pinot Noir...We ended dinner with the crème brulée and we left happy !

Came here with a group of 6 friends for happy hour/dinner on a Friday night. We ordered practically everything on the happy hour menu and it was all great. There was literally nothing we did not like. We also ordered the vodka/rum mojito and were very impressed with that as well! The staff was great - I think it was our waiter's first day, but we had no idea until he told us. He performed like a seasoned veteran, answering our numerous questions and accommodating requests. We were seated in the outdoor/patio area, which is always great with Miami's weather. The owner even gave us some attention, coming by to chat and see how we were doing. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place! Food is good and happy hour runs til 10pm on Friday nights. Prices are quite reasonable $6-10 per plate.

Semilla is a great spot that seems to be doing well despite the horrendous construction on Alton. All of your irritation at attempting to navigate the combat zone that is Alton Road will melt away once you step inside Semilla! We came during the happy hour and sat at the bar. Lots of snacks and drinks for $6. Larry S. had a very strong and tangy margarita, and I had the not quite Dark & Stormy. MMMM, spicy deliciousness! We next sampled some of the starters; oysters (FRESH!!), pot stickers, shrimp tempura (the standout, super crisp and not at all oily), tenderloin skewer and the pork shoulder rillette. Incredibly crusty french bread was served alongside. Friends joined us and they had the ceviche (nothing remained in the bowl afterwards) and the french fries, which of course, we sampled! The food was excellent as was the service. Jessica was manning the bar and was just terrific. The happy hour lasts till 8 excpet for Fridays, when it lasts til 10!

Love at first bite! Semilla is a wonderful little spot in the middle of sobe insanity. We arrived after going for some drinks at an event, and decided to make some reservations out of fear of not being able to be seated, very common on the beach... To my utter shock, the place was completely empty! At first inspection the place is gorgeous! It has a very cool bar and completely open kitchen that keeps it cool and a bit casual. We were immediately seated and greeted by a very nice staff who told us we were right on time for happy hour 6-8 pm. I ordered a glass of wine and 2 a poetizases for $6 each. The pork in a jar came cold, which was shocking, but absolutely delicious. And the croquettes of a lifetime. They were sooo good, I ordered a second batch! We also ordered a grilled snapper, salad, and beef skewers. All absolutely delicious. To complete, Mimi ice cream sliders. If you have a sweet tooth, you may need to order more than one! I totally love the atmosphere and food and am saddened that this place isn't booming. Sure, there's construction, so what? Fill your belly with some amazing food! Ok, now for those who may wonder why 4! Stars instead of 5. This place deserves 5, but truthfully, the amount of food for the price is overpriced and portions are not generous at all. I believe that they need to either give more, or bring the price point down and I promise to be a regular! Happy eating!

I'm a more than a little disappointed with this place. I came here because of the reviews and the beautiful pictures of the restaurant. The restaurant is actually very nice and they offer a nice Italian experience as most of the staff is Italian. However, the food needs improvement. Most of the food was served cold and their menu does not offer many options. The beer, wine and the fried food was the best things to order. Obviously you can't mess up something that comes pre made in a bottle and fries are pretty hard to mess up. I hope your food gets better.

So glad to find out about Semilla so quickly after they opened! I am a total sucker for wood grain, so as soon as I walked in, I was in love. Fresh herbs lined the walls and the wooden tables were cozy and cute with super comfy benches (as we know, this isn't always the case with bench seating). Another thing that I thought was super cool was the placemat setup. I know it's a minor detail, but pretty cool and unique (no spoiler). The next thing that drew my attention was the giant Happy Hour sign! I can't wait to get back from 6-8 to check out the deals. Another big plus right of the bat, there was a steady flow of customers on a Tuesday, so I was feeling pretty good as we waited to order. Also Chef Frederick came over to chat it up with and showed us some love. Excellent service from the wait staff too. Since I did totally drop the 5 stars, let's get onto the food. We were lucky enough to try quite a few thing on the menu so here goes: Bacon Goat Cheese Croquettas: Oh my hell yes. Just as bomb ass as you are thinking right now, add the creamy dipping sauce then multiply by ten. I could possibly live off of these. Pot stickers: We tried two. Beef Short Rib and BBQ Rib - Super tasty spin on the pot sticker. Salmon & Avocado Tartar: Fresh, perfect flavor and light. Skirt Steak with Red Wine deliciousness sauce: This was on time. I had a big craving for some delicious red meat and this hit the spot. Perfectly cooked. tender. juicy. Yes. Snapper: I can't remember what was adorning this tasty fish, but truly the BEST cooked and seasoned fish that I've had in recent memory. Sounds crazy, but it's true. I was pretty close to licking the plate and SO sad when it was finished. I'm excited to try the other fish items on my next return. Tempura Brussels Sprouts: Yeah, you heard. I actually am a giant b-sprouts fan and these were out-of-control-amazing. The tempura batter with the layers of sprouts was on time. For those of you who aren't into the b-sprouts, this is your bridge to the world of b-sprouts. Ice Cream Mini-Sliders: No joke here. Chef Frederick totally took the sliders craze to the next level. I am so sad that my photo didn't come out better, because these little ice cream "burger" sliders with apricot "cheese" set on a macaroon bun blew me away. Go here immediately and order this. Save room for dessert. Snickers Candy Bar: Chocolate Lovers, this is for you. Now to everyone's shock and dismay, I am not a hard core chocolate lover, so this was actually too chocolaty for me personally, but I know a tone of people who would have died and gone straight to heaven after digging into this sweet treat. As you can see from this crazy list, Semilla is a spot that you may want to go with a few friends, so you can try more of what the Chef has to offer. I was blown away by every dish. A real treat in the mix of Miami Beach ho-hum tourist spots.

It could be a nice place... if they changed the whole personnel! I would put 0 stars if only I could... We had the worst experience in a restaurant that anyone could ever have. We were celebrating a birthday, with a large group of people (around 15) and had been set up nicely outside. Unfortunately, it seemed like it was annoying for EVERYONE, from the servers to the "manager", to have such a big group of people (I'm sorry is this really a restaurant? Is this your job? so SUCK IT UP) First, we haven't been served or asked if we wanted water for at least 1 hour and a half. After the appetizers, when our entrees finally arrived after an hour wait, I had to get up and go ask for some water inside because no one would listen. But the worst came last. They instructed us to go pay inside, one by one, and didn't even bother saying that tips were already included. So some people in the group got confused and wrote less on the first line of the receipt and added the tips to that. To make things short, everyone got confused because they were telling us they were missing some money, and when I went inside to see what was going on, I saw the manager or whatever Frederic is, in an OUTRAGE, screaming at my boyfriend because he organized everything for his birthday and we didn't even leave ENOUGH tips (tips were INCLUDED in the total). So I asked what was going on and he started screaming at me too and insulting me by throwing a bunch of cash at my face and telling me to "go give that back to my stupid friends". Of course, I reacted, and I'm pretty sure a good part of the restaurant heard what I had to say. Worse than that, when a friend of mine went back inside to calmly ask if she could pay the difference, they BLEW HER OFF and told her she was drunk, and to go back outside otherwise they would call the police. Then a second later he told the barman to give her a drink because she was drunk. What's the sense in all this??! Now, who the hell does he think he is? After seeing his behavior, and the behavior of all the other servers (especially a French girl), I thought they didn't even deserve the 18% tip they included in our tab. I have never EVER seen a "manager" behave in such a way with clients. And none of us have EVER been treated in such a way in a restaurant (if you can call that a restaurant). He completely spoiled our evening and he sould DEFINITELY take anger management classes or work in an office where he doesn't have to talk to anyone because CLEARLY he does not know how to deal with clients. Needless to say, we will never go back there again. The whole personnel in this restaurant is a disaster. What a shame.

Absoutely delightful! Clean, beautiful space, excellent food and the happy hour is second to none. The Bar menu and drinks are generous and delish. You will love this place as an antidote to the mediocre food found in most south beach places. Egor will take excellent care of you at the bar .

I was very disappointed with both the quality of the food and the service. The food tasted as if it was bought at Costo and thrown into the deep fryer. I ordered the "BBQ Rib Pot-stickers". One would think the pot-stickers had BBQ Rib meat inside. It did not; it was a regular store bought potsticker with some generic BBQ sauce on the side.My girlfriend ordered the "BBQ Chicken" and "BBQ Tenderloin", she said they were fatty and almost rubbery. The service left something to be desired. The food took awhile to come out and the woman who seemed to be a manager was extremely rude. Overall, I wouldn't waste my time or money here.

Special day today at Semilla for the FIFA World Cup. Despite being completely packed, both service and food quality were a perfect "10". Chef Fred exemplifies what a great restaurant should be, what can I say, the French know how to run a great establishment. We ordered Beef Stroganoff, the Flank Steak with Truffle Fries+ Eggs Benedict, all prepared quickly and perfectly. Wine selection is excellent although I drank Duvel Belgian Ale. We finished with a "mini ice cream slider." Bon Appetite! Highly recommended!

Worst food I have had in years. We ordered the sea bass and it literally had rocks in it. It was in-edible, salty, chewy and actually had grains of sand or something? Not to mention the fish wasn't fresh and you could tell it was frozen. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!! They even made us pay for it. Stay away!!!!!!!

Excellent! Happy Hour until 10pm every day! $6 selected bites, drinks, cocktails, and wines. You can also order from the regular menu if you want to. Delicious plates and great ambiance. It's the rendez-vous of French people in Miami. The chef, despite his excellent Michelin career, created a total different style: Semilla is a gastropub with affordable plates, tapas and drinks. It's the place you go to meet your friends, have a drink after work and snack on delicious and creative tapas. I recommend the short rib pot stickers (gyoza), salmon tartar and duck rillettes, All Oh so good!

3.5 I wanted to give this place 5 starts, I REALLY DID!!! Unfortunately, despite a great vibe and ambience, it fell short..... I recently moved next door and wanted to try out their Miami Spice Menu. Who could skip that? For $39 plus service/tax, I got a pork croquette, salad, strip steak with potatoes and broccoli, plus apple crumble desert with salted caramel ice cream - yum! The place was pretty empty so I was excited to get great service...I sat at the bar and unfortunately the bartender barely spoke English. The manager was awesome though and saw to it that I got what I needed. I even got a free Margherita when I checked-in on YELP - thanks guys! My appetizer pork croquette was good. Haven't had many, and I thought it was supposed to be joined with a bib lettuce salad, and instead I got really bitter/gorgeous greens. Presentation would be 5+. Bitter greens were soaked in oil and not my taste. 5+ again for my potato and broccoli au grautin. FABULOSO!!!!!!!!!!!! My New York Strip Steak was also cooked and sliced to sheer perfection, and came with a perfect/delicious peppercorn sauce. These guys do red meat right! Unfortunately the steak itself was a really bad cut. It was like a bunch of strings and tendons ran through it making half of it unedible. No one wants to put a piece of steak in their mouth that tastes so good but is unchewable. I TRIED to order a decaf coffee with my meal. After waiting more than 10 minutes, I realized she served me a TINY shot of espresso in a full size coffee cup (the shot barely skimmed the bottom of this cup - making it look like she served me a dirty cup beyond anything else), hence why I couldn't see it nor know that I was served anything in the 1st place. When I told her again that I wanted a decaf coffee, she started arguing with me that it was. Later she started saying something about an "American Coffee" (yessssss, this is America lady! - and ordering a "decaf" shot of Espresso would kind of defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?) grrrrrrrrr........ My apple crumble was good, but they served ice cream on top of a warm crumble which meant it was melting and made you rush to eat ice cream (hello headache). The music was blarring when I first walked in, to the point that I did not want to eat in such a noise. The manager saw that I was contemplating sitting down and when I told him about the music, he offered to lower it and did. The place itself is fantastic. It started to fill up and lots of people enjoying themselves. The chicken and steak pot sticks (at least that's what they looked like), looked fantastic! There also appears to be a Happy Hour from 6-8 pm, but I couldn't find what the Happy Hour actually offered :( Overall, I bet this is a GREAT place to chill, have some food, drinks, etc. Just learn the menu a little better and bring an interpreter!!!!

We had a delightful meal at Semilla last night. We ordered in a couple of small dishes (our favorite way to eat!) We had: Wagyu Carpaccio Bok choi with bacon crumble Vegetable Tempura Goat cheese and bacon croquettas And a ice cream slider. Our favorites were the vegetable tempura, bok choi and the croquettes, which is strange as we're usually fans of raw meat and fresh favors so the beef should've been our cuppa tea. The cucumber cooler was delish and refreshing. Service was really good but here comes the reason for 4: there is a 18% service charge automatically. We were so bummed by this that what would've been a least a 20% tip ended up being just the mandatory 18% tip...

Favorite spot on the beach . Food is great , cosy atmosphere and friendly service . Very professional owner and I'm very surprised this place can get bad reviews . Happy hours from 6 to 8pm , with french lessons as a bonus . Semilla it's must in south beach .

Came here early on a Friday night with my relatives. Didn't have a reservation but they still sat us at a big and cozy corner booth/ table. Place was fairly empty but you could tell it was about to jump off at anytime. I assume the gentleman who sat us was the owner or GM. He briefly explained most of the place was reserved for later and I totally believed it. The place had a very modern and inviting atmosphere. I liked the music they were playing, it was mostly acoustic covers of popular songs. I thought that was pretty cool. My uncle thought it was a bit loud but I thought the volume was fine. Our server was very attentive and patient, which can be tough with my family. I believe he was French. My uncle had a hard time hearing him but I understood fine. We ordered a bottle of wine and sparkling water. I like how for a dollar you can get unlimited refills of sparkling. We ended up ordering a couple different potstickers, fish and chips, beef skewers, French fries and I ordered a skirt steAk, kale salad, and bok Choy side dish. All the food was great. Everything came out timely, cooked right, and tasty. Portions are on the small side but that's how the place is set up. We ended the meal with cappuccinos and they were nothing to sneeze about either. Very smooth and properly made. The same gentleman who seated us insured we were satisfied afterwards and thanked us for dining there. My uncle had a 25 dollar coupon which I applied to the bill with no fuss or problem. They do add 18% gratuity automatically, which I didn't realize until after I had left a decent tip but I was okay with this because I appreciated the spectacular service, the food was great and the setting at the time was perfect for family. Do yourself a favor and walk a few blocks away from Lincoln road to get better food, atmosphere and much better service at Semilla.

Had very nice tapas here. Greeted at the door by Emile. Her French accent had me at hello! She was very nice and accommodating. The food was fabulous. Drinks very good. Atmosphere eclectic. Try the tempura brussel sprouts. Yum!

Sipping on a glass of Rose awaiting Corvina Tiradito, BBQ Octopus and Happy Hour Beef Tenderloin Skewers. It's Friday after 9 pm and they are offering a great array of Happy Hour treats at $6 each. Food was good not great but it was a very good value. Bar chairs are horribly uncomfortable.

The space is cool. And the staff very friendly. But the seats at the bar are too close to the steam cooking in the open kitchen and the smell sticks to ur clothes. The veggie/tofu dumplings were great. But the ceviche lacked taste and flavor. We had to return them. And the fries were burnt. Overall, the food was not that good. The happy hour drink specials were good. Mixed feelings about this place.

I went there with the Algonquin diner group so we had a set menu. Semilla is a gastropub very nicely decorated with a nice size bar in the middle. I had shrimp tempura & small salad w/citrus vinaigrette. As main dish branzino w/ratatouille + quinoa & for desert a sort of apple cobbler. Everything was delicious. I will go back to try the big variety of small dishes that are on the regular menu.

A newcomer to Miami Beach, Semilla has cool, refined modern French Oak decor, an open kitchen & grill, and a long, shiny steel bar for diners to hang. The place has a certain modern, French-influenced urban vibe to it that sets it apart on a busy Alton Road construction site. So I had high hopes when I spotted a brief notice on Semilla's opening in a recent Miami Herald. My hopes weren't realized by my first visit, as Semilla just hasn't nailed it when it comes to food. Semilla's focus are small plates, which better, established competitors like Sugar Cane and Oak Tavern have mastered. For now, Semilla lags behind both. All three salads we tried were over-dressed, salty, and seemed to have the same sauce. Steak was an unremarkable, tasteless choice cut, and dumplings seemed over cooked too. Service was over-attentive to the point of being disruptive, too, and given our overall impression, we passed on dessert. I do like the attitude and hints of France here, and we even sat near a table of Parisian visitors (a good sign). Semilla does have potential, and hopefully, over time it gets its sea legs and dishes in tighter, better shape, and we'll come back. For now, it needs work in the food department. One other note: given the construction on Alton Road, be prepared to park and walk to Semilla.

Best little unpretentious and "undiscovered" (only because its on the less trendy part of town stuck in the midst of all the crazy dirty construction) place in town. Everything on the menu sounds absolutely awesome. The fried smoked mozzarella ball with tomatoes is dreamy. Totally open shiny kitchen. Happy hour menu is all $6. Instantly a favorite!!

Absolutely AMAZING place!!!! This place looks nice from the outside and decided to give it a shot. Happy hour is 6-8 and there is wine and food specials. I was with one other person and we made our way through the tapas style plates LOVING every one of them. Pot stickers, steak skewer, chicken skewer, fish n chips...those were top notch but I absolutely recommend getting the bacon goat cheese croquettes. The warm goat cheese hiding inside the lightly fried ball is incredible. Decor is great too..live herbs growing on the wall...clean tables..super comfortable bench seating inside. The bar seating allows you to watch the food prep and outdoor seating looks great at night or for a big group. I will be going back there many times! If you care more about food quality than location, then give this place a shot.

This place is extremely mediocre. They were good when they first opened, but it has gone way downhill since then. The food is average at best. The dishes have no flavor, and they have a lacking selection of beers and cocktails. I ordered 2 simple drinks and they waiter said they did not have the ingredients to make them. How can you call yourself a gastropub?

Stopped by Semilla on a recent Friday evening to check out their happy hour....it lasts until 10 pm! Happy hour features $6 drinks, including some craft beers on tap, and snacks like grilled pot stickers with a variety of fillings, satay skewers and jars of rillettes with crusty bread. The space is lofty and airy with a large circular bar and outside seating too. Cool local crowd and friendly service. Worth a visit.

Definitely I love this place. The venue is cosy, warm and very pleasant. I have never been disappointed by the food, the snicker bar dessert is amazing! Aslo, On Sunday we tasted the Brunch, only one word yummy! One of my favorite place in Miami!

This place used to be 4+ stars, but not anymore. The last visit was aggressively average. Last night we had the ceviche, kale salad, beef dumplings, and tempura Brussels sprouts. The ceviche wasn't too good- I recommend you go to suviche instead. Dumplings were pretty solid, but too salty. Tempura sprouts were too-heavily battered, and the kale salad wasn't actually kale. Unfortunate because the last times we came was much better.

Pretty big for a pub and food is delicious!! Filled me to the brim!! Ordered the Hamborghini burger with fried salami, provolone cheese, and pesto mayo along with tater tots which was salty goodness washed down by a Coke.

Was there last Friday and had a real good time. The happy hour is good but even without that the prices are fair. The food is refined, the wine selection varied and the staff advised us with fairness. Really a good place for having a good time
